Sri Lanka’s tea production in March 2016, which was down 27.5 percent from a year earlier owing to drought, was the lowest since 2010, brokers said. March tea output fell by 8.3 million kilos to 22.06 million kilos from 30.4 million kilos in March 2015. Sri Lanka’s state-run water supply agency has asked customers not use piped drinking water to wash cars or irrigate plants and help avoid water cut, as a severe hot weather and a drought gripped the country.
